Last Wednesday The Bunker hosted a day of workshops for some year 10 students from Seaham School. A selection of students who were interested in the music industry was invited along to come and see what we do here at The Bunker. Split into two sessions, (morning/afternoon) the day was overseen by The Bunker staff but was planned and delivered by The Bunker’s creative apprentices.
The apprentices spent the weeks before planning several workshops that showcase what the bunker does, as well as showing what the music industry is like to work in. The apprentices have been working at The Bunker since February and have been integrated into the music profession ever since. So who better to show these young students what its like!
Here’s Alex Lynch talking about the experience of showing future student what happens at the bunker:
“If I had this opportunity at school I’d have said “sign me up, sounds class!” so when The Bunker said that they were going to host a day of workshops for a school, we apprentices knew we were perfect to show them what we do. “
The morning workshops included Djembe drumming and a drum orchestra that resulted in the students delivering a performance after their sessions. The afternoon included singing, DJ and music production workshops where the singers were also given the experience of being in a professional recording studio and had their performance recorded. Liam Huitson, the event organiser, talking about the success of the workshops:
“The whole day was a success, all the workshops went really well. The singing workshop was such a success that even the cameraman joined in!”
